"Passion" is an important image for me as it was the first image that reflected my intense love for New Orleans just after Hurricane Katrina. Katrina had caused such damage and pain and many local artists chose to express their experience regarding the disaster in a more tragic and somber way. I however, chose to focus on my reverence for the city. Positive energy felt more appropriate to create with and share aesthetically. I felt that the negative had been so abundant and obvious. The Fleur de Leis means so much to the people of New Orleans, as might a country’s flag to its citizens. New Orleans is a special place and my passion for this city is deep and unyielding. I intend to continue to use the Fleur de Leis as my artistic signature, as I have never felt so strongly about any other icon with the understandable exception of the American flag.
