The drums still beat, wars are still fought and bodies continue to be painted. This is the very first time that I connected purposefully to the vibe of tribal and indigenous Bodypainting Cultures and Artists. I was careful to not imitate any specific style or culture but I chose rather to express a feeling of the primitive with the modern luxury of a vast palette. I used a multitude of colors in this exploration, wanting each to send a different signal to the viewer, harmoniously. I also allowed lighting and shadow to play a significant role in Kenyatta's overall expression. Kenyatta was painted spontaneously with every stroke being free to play out its unique potential.
