Inferno is an exploration of our primitive and ritualistic relationship with fire and darkness. I’ve confronted the viewer with the model in this image by using direct eye contact, knowing that the fire’s visual dominance would only be complimented. The model’s hands function as a foreground and are warmly illuminated by the flame within. I chose Renee as my model for this image because of her conventional beauty, which allowed my work to ultimately and dramatically transform her.
