This is the most provocative of my Bodypaintings to date and once again, I was trying to prove something to myself and possibly to others. I found a model with the exceptional comfort and form for this project. With her ease, she helped make me feel as if I were on the right path. As with many of my compositions, I choose to minimize the obvious and maximize the obscure and the mysterious. To this day, I am pleasantly surprised that this image continues to create confusion for some, while delighting others. This was the second of my finger-paintings and I’d like to note that a very small but crucial portion of this image was painted with traditional paintbrush. I found that the slide of the trombone would be best painted in a less primitive and more precise fashion.
